First Shanghai Investment

First Shanghai Investment Group (the "Group"), formerly known as Public International Investments Limited, was established in 1964, and adopted its present name in 1993 to better reflect its business concerns. With shares listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the Group is principally engaged in financial services (covering corporate finance, stock brokerage, fund management, financial information services and e-finance), as well as direct investments in Chinese Mainland in such economically vibrant regions as Shanghai, the Yangtze River Delta Area, and Shenzhen. This direct investment business is complemented by its position as shareholder of China Assets (Holdings) Limited, a listed investment holdings company in Hong Kong.

The objective of the Group's China investment strategy is to effectively utilize its position through its controlling interest in companies while seeking opportunities for further market expansion. At present, the Group's investments in China include pharmaceuticals, children's products, logistics, automobile instruments, and information technology.

LuKang

SHANGDONG LUKANG PHARMACEUTICAL GROUP ("LuKang") is a comprehensive, large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturer and a leading producer of antibiotics in China. Shangdong Lukang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (LKPC), a direct subsidiary of the Group, has been listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange since 1997, under ticker symbol "600789".

Lukang was first founded in 1966. Subsequent to the implementation of enterprise reforms in 1984, the Company has been able to generate 25-30% annual growth in recent years. As one of the four base camps of antibiotics production in China, LuKang currently has 7,000 employees, over 860,000 sq meters (200+ acres) of facilities, and assets totaling 3 billion RMB.

Lukang's business scope includes manufacturing of consumer pharmaceuticals (antibiotics), pharmaceutical reagents, raw materials and intermediates, agriculture and veterinarian products, and pharmaceutical packaging. The Company also boasts capabilities in R&D consulting, quality control, pharmaceutical chemistry design and market distribution. Products under the "Lukang" brand are widely recognized by Chinese consumers, as they are distributed through a well-connected national sales network. Lukang's products are also exported to more than 30 countries in Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa.

With a state-of-the-art biological manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China, Sciprogen currently has capacity of 80g/year and is expanding its pipeline to include LSMG, human growth hormone, insulin, and vaccines.

SIPI

SHANGHAI INSTITUTE OF PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY (SIPI) was inaugurated in 1957. Today, it is one of the largest and strongest comprehensive research and development entities in the pharmaceutical industry system of China. Formerly, it was under the direct leadership of the Chinese State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), and now is affiliated with the Central Enterprise Work Commission.

SIPI's research scope covers the whole spectrum of pharmaceutical development, including chemical synthetic drugs, pharmaceutical preparations, biochemical and microbiological drugs, biological drugs and products, Chinese herbals medicines and modern preparations of Chinese traditional medicine, drug analysis, pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutical equipment.

In conjunction with SIPI, the State Planning Commission, the State Economy & Trade Commission, the Ministry of Science & Technology, and the SFDA have also established four affiliated agencies: the National Pharmaceutical Engineering Research Center (NPERC), the National Pharmaceutical Industry Information Center (NPIIC), the National (Shanghai) Center for New Drug Safety Evaluation and Research (NCNDSER), and the National Drug Package Testing Center (NDPTC). These research centers enhance the comprehensive strength and professional position of SIPI, which is poised to be a driving force in the rejuvenation of research and development for Chinese pharmaceutical industry.
